The Perfect Father’s Day Gift For My Furdad
Dear Diary,
Father’s Day is just around the corner……at least that’s what they tell me. I never know what day it is. My parents have a calendar hanging in their kitchen. But I don’t know how to read it. I just like to look at the pictures. They’re dogs…like me.
Anyway, I think no one really knows what day or month it is anymore. March or May or Junary or Augcember? But that means it’s even more important to buy a dog dad gift right now. That way, the day doesn’t sneak up on you (forcing you to buy him a present from the local 7-11).
I wasn’t really sure what to get him. It’s hard for canines to go into brick and mortar stores when all of them have No Dogs Allowed signs (hmph!). And it’s hard to shop online when you don’t have opposable thumbs or remember the Wi-Fi password (besides, mom took away my Visa). Still, I think I know what I want to buy: a dog dad coffee mug.
Here is why I like it:
- It’s a personalized mug with a photo, which means my owner will see my face each time he takes a sip (naturally, this will remind him of how much he loves me and, perhaps, encourage him to make me steak).
- It’s unique – the cat will just give him a hairball, same as last year.
- It’s practical – dad needs something to drink his coffee from and I definitely don’t want him drinking out of my bowl. His human breath is terrible.
- It’s affordable, which is good since I don’t have a job.
There are other things you can do for your dog dad too on Father’s Day. You can let him sleep in that Sunday morning. Even if you’re hungry or you want to go for a walk, let him get five more minutes of shuteye (that’s 35 minutes to us). You can also try making him breakfast in bed. You probably can’t reach the toaster but that’s okay – just try to catch him a squirrel. It’ll probably taste good with maple syrup.
