Life in Quarantine For Introvert Dogs
Dear Diary,
The quarantine continues – at least that’s what I’m hearing. I have no idea what quarantine is, but it keeps on being an excellent thing for all petkind.
For introverts like me, staying at home so often is quite nice. I don’t like to get pet by a lot of people and I’ve always held so firmly to the belief of “stranger danger” that I think I could produce an After School Special on the importance of never speaking to those who you don’t actually know.
The quarantine is probably harder for extroverted dogs. There’s a yellow lab at the dog park that greets everyone with a wag of the tail and a ball in his mouth. He’ll play fetch with any human he sees – it’s a terrible judgment on his part if you ask me. Anyway, I bet the quarantine is much harder for dogs like him.
I’m content staying home with my owner and I love that she is home so often. These last four weeks have been the best 28 weeks of my life.
I’ve heard some of the humans talking about restrictions lifting and going back to normal. I’m not sure I like the sound of that. This normal – this new normal – is one I wish would stick around. Still, I guess I understand the need to leave the house. My owner must, at the very least, go out to buy dog food.
The pats on the head and the rubs of my belly lift my spirits and I hope they buoy yours as well.
